Wishing you the best Saturday ever

So today is the first Saturday in a long time that I'm actually home--I mean really home with nothing planned. I kinda like this! It really doesn't happen very often because there's ALWAYS something going on.

It's nice to get the usual Saturday things done and then have no place you have to be! In a perfect world I would then watch one of my favorite movies with a big coke and some popcorn and just enjoy the rest of the day. I could do that, but I'm really not sure what I want to do. How would you spend your Saturday?

I can't think of better way enjoy the day than by making a few cards. This card that I made the other day seems like the perfect way to end today.

Yep. Life is good.

A Season of Change

I know yesterday was the first day of Fall, or Autumn if that's what you call it, and that means it's cooler, right?

Fall really is one of those times when I wish I lived where you could see and feel the seasons change, I mean really change. Not just a tree here or there and the occasional cool day. I'd love to go on a hayride, or even make a trip to an apple orchard or a pumpkin patch....that would really put me in the "fall mood." But I don't think that will be happening, so I have to do what I can to remind me it's fall....like making fall themed cards like this one.
So, here's hoping to cooler days and lots of fun fall activities!

A little stumped!

I can't believe it's been over a month since I last blogged--see I told you I didn't know if this was my thing!

Kids are back in school, I'm back at work, the weather is suppose to be getting cooler--not here-- and it's time to start getting things done that I've been meaning to get done. You know, those things like watching those movies that are on your list of ones you haven't seen yet! Everyone needs a little "me" time to do that don't ya think? Yah I know, it's wishful thinking.

Today, I'm making cards--which is what I do best! I had to come up with a card for a 9 year old boy. Well, seeing as I don't have boys, it's always hard for me to come up with just the right idea for a boy. I mean, what do they like?!

So, here's what I came up with. Everything I thought might be in a boys pocket, a slingshot, a rock, a bandana, a lasso and a stick of gum. I REALLY wanted to put matches in the pocket to go along with the birthday candles, but realized they would be yanked out of the pocket and end up in the hands of his 5 year old brother, and believe me when I say, that would be disastrous! Besides that his parents would probably ask that I don't make them birthday cards again, for anyone in their family!

So, what do you think?

Sending you a Little Happy Today

So, today marks the end of summer for me. School starts Monday for the kids, and that also means work for me beginning Tuesday. I'm reminded of the old Staples commercial with the music "It's the most wonderful time of the year" playing in the background with the mom or dad dancing through the aisles of Staples while the kids drag their feet. It's the best commercial ever, or at least in my opinion. I really have mixed emotions when I think about summer being over.

I love summer and everything about it so I'm really not looking forward to it coming to an end! Time just flies by when you're an adult, summer being no exception, but I remember as a kid, summer took forever. We've had a very busy summer, so I can't complain. We took several trips, had family visits, and just plain had a fun time. I feel like I am the lucky one since I get to be at home with my kids--not everyone is so lucky. But, I also know my kids are excited to start school, find their classes and see their friends that they haven't seen all summer, so that makes me happy too and that makes up for the sad part about summer being over.

I've been able to make a few cards recently, and all of them make me happy, including this cute little one. So I'm sending you a little happy today!

Never Give Up

So, I'm feeling a little discouraged today about a couple of things. Without going into detail, let's just say I'm not liking some things that have come up. There's nothing I can do about it, so I should just make the best of it, right? Well, that's way easier said than done.

I love quotes and I came across this one today that put things in perspective for me:

‎"Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."-Winston Churchill

So, here's to thinking positive and remembering to never give up even when it seems it's a very long uphill battle!

Photo Day

Since I couldn't think of anything to blog about today, I'm posting my favorite picture of the week. Nothing like nice, COLD water from the drinking fountain!

You're so cool!

Nothing says summer like ice cold popsicles from the freezer!!
Summer heat has been turned on at our house. This week is a smidge cooler than last week, but I'm still heading for the freezer for some nice cool treats! Being "cool" was the inspiration for this card that I made for a friend of mine who hauled all the girls up to girls camp this week. She definitely is the coolest and I couldn't think of a better way to let her know.
Now, it's your turn, head in to the kitchen and snag one of those freezer treats that you know you want and sit back and relax and enjoy your day!

This is all new to me!

So, I've decided that it was time to start blogging. I'm not quite sure if I'm totally sold on the whole blogging thing, and I'm not so sure that I even know what I want to blog about, but figured I'd give it a shot.

All day today I've been thinking that summertime is the best time ever! Kids are out of school, no schedules to deal with, not a whole lot of running around, and I can sit and read a book all day if I wanted to. That isn't likely to happen, but it's a nice thought isn't it? Yep, life is good.
